Carmelo Anthony - His numbers are solid (23.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 4.4 apg) but his team is playing terrible offense when he is on the floor. Melo's transition to New York hasn't been
great so far but his play has been solid enough to earn him a spot in the East starters.
Lebron James - If you didn't vote for The King as a starter for this year's All-Star game, then something is wrong with you. James has been playing great basketball since the beginning of the season (29.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 7.0 apg). The most notable difference in his game this season is that he has been attacking the basket more frequently. Even adding a post-up game into his arsenal.
Guards
Dwyane Wade - After missing some games because of an injury, Wade is back and he has ignited the Miami offense especially in transition. Both he (20.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 5.5 apg) and James are so dangerous in the transition that we see a lot of highlights featuring the both of them in the open court.
Derrick Rose - Last season's MVP is having another MVP season (23.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 7.7 apg). He is leading the charge for the Bulls into the second-best record in the league. And after the disappointing loss to the Heat last season, Rose is clearly motivated to bounce back.
Center
Dwight Howard - With all the trade rumors surrounding him, Howard has been playing great for the Orlando Magic (20.1 ppg, 15.4 rpg, 2.1 apg). With him recently calling out his teammates after terrible losses, I wonder how the home fans will greet Him during the All-Star game.

Blake Griffin - Last season's Rookie of the Year is even better this season (21.6 ppg, 11.2 rpg). Many argue that he is the best power forward in the game right now and he is certainly making the case with his explosive and powerful plays. I mean, did you see his dunk over Kendrick Perkins?! Nothing more to be said.
Kevin Durant - The best player in the best team. He is the leader (26.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 3.1 apg) of a young Thunder team that many are predicting will win the West. He is an MVP candidate and clearly basketball never stops for this young man.
Guards
Kobe Bryant - Starting for the 13th time in his 14th All-Star game appearance. That in itself is an accomplishment that few other players can duplicate. Despite having played with all the injuries, he is proving (30 ppg, 6.10 rpg, 5.4 apg) to everyone that the Lakers are still a dangerous team.
Chris Paul - He is the reason why many are saying that the Clippers are a contender in the West. He (19.2 ppg, 9.1 apg, 2.5 spg) is simply the best pick-and-roll player. And having to pair him with Blake Griffin even makes it tougher for opponents. We have already seen the Chris Paul effect as Griffin and DeAndre Jordan leads the league with the most dunks this season.
Center
Andrew Bynum - The first All-Star appearance for the young center and it doesn't hurt that he is the starter. Bynum is having a solid season for the Lakers (16.5 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 1.9 bpg). Some might say that his selection was because there was no other option in the West, but I think he deserves it. He is the second-best center in the league right now, and some even argue that he is the best.
