Rockets' Bench Giddy After Green's Windmill

Monday, March 12, 2012 |

Anybody seen the windmill dunk by Gerald Green?! Wow! That's all I can say.

Apparently, the Rockets' bench thinks so too.  After Green's slam, Houston's bench wanted to celebrate until they remembered that they were playing for the opposing team (Haha!).  Just take a look at Chase Budinger's reaction.  It seems like he wanted to go crazy!  And that other guy on the end of the bench? He can't contain his excitement that he stood up.  Then sat down immediately after realizing that if he gets caught, he probably won't play any minutes the next game (although I'm not sure if does get his minutes).

We Miss Ricky Rubio Already

Sunday, March 11, 2012 |

When word came out that Ricky Rubio will miss the rest of the season of the ACL injury.  Fans, like me, were saddened.  Rubio had terrific start to the season as he has helped Minnesota surpass its total win from last season (17).  Together with Kevin Love, the Wolves were again an exciting team to watch since the last time another Kevin played for the franchise.

Many compared Rubio to Pete Maravich because of his fancy passing.  I can't really say anything about that because I personally haven't seen Maravich play.  But the way he passes the ball with accuracy is the aspect of his game I admire most.  Sure his mid-range and three-point shooting is questionable, but at least he is not afraid to take them (just remember the game against the Clippers where he hit the game-tying three).  His turnovers are a bit high for a point guard.  But, let's not forget he just a rookie in the NBA.  I personally believe that he will improve the other aspects of his game to become a better player.

The reason I watch Minnesota's games was mainly because of Rubio.  I saw YouTube videos of his exploits in Europe and I just wanted to witness how his play would translate in the NBA.  From the first game he played in  the NBA up to his last game (before injury), I became a believer that someday he will become an All-Star in the league.  It's just so sad to see him go down when the team had so much hope going for them.  I just wish that he would take his time to heal and come back next season stronger.

Buzzer Beaters To The Power of Three

Thursday, March 08, 2012 |

Three game winners in one night, who could ask for more.  Kyrie Irving's baseline-to-baseline layup in Denver, Derrick Rose's dagger in Milwaukee and Jordan Farmar's three against the Clippers all gave their teams the win in last night's NBA games.  Check out the video below.

Blake Griffin vs Kris Humphries: Who Wins?

|

The game between the LA Clippers and New Jersey Nets came down the wire.  It took a last second three from Jordan Farmar to win the game.  However, there were other highlights worth noting (especially if you have Blake Griffin!).  Last night, Griffin was both the giver and the taker of two highlight plays.  Check out both plays and decide which do you think is the best.

Kobe Bryant The Black Mamba-Man!

Wednesday, March 07, 2012 |

Black Mamba-Man
For all the seriousness Kobe brings to the court, you can't help but feel funny for the mask he wore in the game against the Detroit Pistons.  Although they lost the game in overtime, he did hit the jumper that sent the game into overtime with 0.1 second left.  But during the first half of the game, he ridiculously  wore a black mask that made him look like Zorro.  The NBA already has its crop of "superheroes" including Dwight Howard (Superman) and Nate Robinson (Kryptonate).  If Howard could somehow end up in a Lakers' uniform, then they could form the NBA's version of the Justice League.  Howard would be Superman, and Kobe? Well, we could call him the Black Mamba-Man!

Buckle Up: D-League Dunk Contest

|

During the halftime break of the D-League All-Star game, the D-League Dunk Contest was held.  I watched the highlights of the contest and I must say that the D-League Dunk Contest was way better than the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest.  It was less about showmanship and more on throwing down the most creative, loud and amazing slam.
